National Gallery of Ireland Collection - Irish Fashion Meets Fine Art
Irish Fashion in Focus ✨ — Art Edition
Idle hands make stunning work — and looking back to when I founded Capulet & Montague in 2010, I could never have imagined the journey the brand would take. Now, 15 years on, I’m incredibly proud that my work has become instantly recognisable, allowing wearers to explore their individuality and self-expression through colour and form.
Working primarily with acrylic, a medium that can be both challenging and deeply rewarding, has shaped my creative practice from the beginning. It’s a material that demands intention and patience, but in return offers vibrancy, depth, and longevity — values that align closely with my approach to design and sustainability.
One of the greatest honours of my career has been being asked to design a collection for the National Gallery of Ireland. I was truly delighted to be invited, and the opportunity to create work inspired by such an important cultural institution felt both humbling and exciting.
The collection on display at the National Gallery of Ireland Shop draws inspiration from Evie Hone’s Sunday Morning (1948) — a piece rich in emotion, balance, and quiet power. The artwork features in the Gallery’s current exhibition:
Mainie Jellett and Evie Hone: The Art of Friendship,
running from April 10th to August 10th.
Art has always been central to my design process, and this collection felt like a natural dialogue between fine art and fashion. Much like Evie Hone’s work, I aim for my designs to evoke emotion. I see each piece as wearable art, where the wearer has the ability to carry, express, and even amplify emotion — whether that’s a sense of power, confidence, or playfulness.
To have my work connected so closely with the National Gallery of Ireland is a moment I’ll always treasure. It represents not only a personal milestone, but also a celebration of Irish creativity across disciplines.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my work over the years, and to the National Gallery of Ireland for such a meaningful collaboration ✨
