Faro to Fennels Bay — Brown Thomas Create

I am absolutely in love with seeing Lorna wearing my Praya earrings in the Brown Thomas CREATE promotional video. To have my work featured in such a visible way — and to experience the incredible response to the Faro to Fennels Bay collection — has been deeply affirming.

This collection represents months of focused work and intention. I set out to create something different: hand-drawn, bold silhouettes and figurative forms that feel expressive yet refined. As with all my collections, I’m proud to say that it is imaginative, sustainable, and elegant.

The journey behind Faro to Fennels Bay spans both geography and memory — from Portugal to the Cork coastline. Inspiration came from everyday moments: picking pomegranates from trees on the walk to our beach, sitting among coastal rocks, spotting fish in Fennels Bay, and collecting sticks and stones washed up along the shore. These observations became the visual language of the collection.

The colour palette was designed to move effortlessly from summer into autumn/winter, responding to the AW brief for the event: rich burgundies, warm golds, and sand tones, layered with Yves Klein blue and touches of white for balance.

I was honored to be chosen by a panel to represent the Best of Irish Design as part of BT CREATE at Brown Thomas, now in its 14th year. CREATE showcases up-and-coming Irish designers across fashion, accessories, and homeware, while supporting sustainability and innovation. This year’s theme, “Push for Progress,” strongly reflects the values behind my work.

The 38-piece collection was created using recycled and salvaged acrylic, reinforcing my belief that responsible materials and strong design can exist together without compromise.

I have also applied for consideration through the Council of Irish Fashion Designers (CIFD), following encouragement and discussion around the strength and direction of this body of work. Being proposed for consideration by Edmund Shanahan is an honour, and I would be incredibly proud for Faro to Fennells Bay to be recognised at this level alongside the wider Irish fashion community.

The collection is currently on display on the 3rd floor of Brown Thomas in their beautiful CREATE space for the next five weeks. If you would like me to show you the collection in person, please feel free to pop me a message — I would be delighted to.
